June 23 Left Berkeley 1:40 P.M. driving alone in Plymouth.
Clear mild day with brisk westerly winds. Gas
14.9 gallons. (4.42) at Berkeley (395.43). Merged
4:15 P.M. Gne. #7.93. Gas 6.7 gal. (2.01) 39666.4
Valley hazy sunshine, strong winds, warm but not hot.
Arrived Yosemite Valley 7:45 P.M. Set up camp
at Camp 19. Brief night check of alcohol mdr
10:15 P.M. no toads.
June 24 Check of weather station Ahwahnee Meadows 1:40-2:30
P.M. Start for Tuoga Base 4:15 P.M. Picked up
book-pusher Mark Hiserott, recent graduate San Jose
High School, at junction of Tuoga Road & lower
Yosemite Valley. Worked after hearing of my research
asked if he could drum along. We camped at
Foreigne Flat campground, working area 5 of Creek
before & after supper. Evening check 9:15-10:05
yielded tadpoles but no adults. Cool, cloudy evening
with air temps. 7-80 C.
June 25 (Gas 15.0 gallons Hollbrook Jet on U.S. 395 in
Nevada. #5.25. (39904.6))
Morning check at Foreigne Flat. Clear, cool
morning. Still no adult Bufo 9:15-9:00 A.M.
Sierra creapers, chickadees, purple finches, woodpeckers
(sp?) seen & heard around campground. We pushed
up to Twelvemile 10 A.M. Meadow clear of snow &
brownish. No toads left side of road as we drove
grade down into meadow. 4 miles S of Tuoga
