June 10
Walked back down to Long Meadow at 12:45 p.m. Walked meadow for couple hours. Rose adults and Buffor [illegible] taken. Cooler today with drizzle SW wind but clear skies.
Clemage, while my spouse, poles at Kaweah campground. Night climb of Crescent Meadow 7:30 p.m. Plan only seen. Doesn't appear to be a good Buffor meadow.
Climb of Mors Rock to watch sunset. A highlight of this night climb of Long Meadow 9-10:45 p.m. 8 [illegible] taken.
June 11 Kaweah Campground.
Female bear raised all kinds of hell last night. She broke open our metal food locker while we were out doing night work in spite of close proximity of our camping next neighbor. During the night she trotted down a cache suspended 6-8' above the ground by nearby [illegible], ate up our #5 worth of Stein's gnud over to steering open the canned goods, broke window in sedan, climbed in and stole out Ford. She just wouldn't close. I got sounding of her grunts while tired 5:15 A.M. Later we discovered her 2 cubs in 50' tall white fir. We would've love been there!
Gas 14.5 gal. (4.60) Porterville. Mileage (38857) at 12 noon. Lunch hour. Took road from Owen to Glenville (road poorly marked) then over Crawford into the Lebecelle Hwy 178 over Walker Pass to U.S. Hwy 6 Groceries & supper at Dagdahan after arriving 5:15 p.m.
A nice drive up through Upper Sonora into Tranquility of Greenhorn Mt. State Park area but very slow and winding. Very dusty from Summit Lodge to Lebecelle Reservoir. Exhusted highway rest of way. We made a couple
