JM Johnston. 1948 Old Squaw Clangula hyemalis Nyrocina 7 May. Holkham Bay. Harbor Island West Cove. Almost at any time of the day, these ducks may be seen and heard around the southern tip of the island where the water is about 2 fathom deep, diving or flying about. They usually travel in small flocks of 5 or 10. Each flock will dive at about the same time & surface together. As soon as they surface, immediately the musical sound is uttered. Dive is fast, head over quick & down with a plink. 21 May. Same place Not heard or seen as frequently as the first part of May. 15 June - Same place None to be heard or seen. 9 Aug. Same place North -
