Crow
Corvus brachyrhynchos Corvidae
2 May Harbor Island, Alaska,
Core S.E. part of island.
There is a flock, perhaps
50 or more that stay in
the vicinity of the buildings
on the southern tip of the
island. Constantly they
create pandemonium
with their raucous
mell, flying about the
conifers where they nest,
sometimes chasing each
other. They give one the
impression of a quarrelsome
squabbling family.
Generally when they are
flying they will utter
the raucous "caws". There
is a wailing like sound
that they give only while
perched in the conifers.
Sounds like "Maaaooh-wa-
maaoooh". Another party
is heard only while they
are perched. This is a series
of clucks, coughs, cracks
etc. that will start slowly
the sounds coming in clear
