M Johnston 1948 Crow Corvus brachyrhynchos Corvidae 2 May Harbor Island, Alaska, Core S.E. part of island. There is a flock, perhaps 50 or more that stay in the vicinity of the buildings on the southern tip of the island. Constantly they create pandemonium with their raucous mell, flying about the conifers where they nest, sometimes chasing each other. They give one the impression of a quarrelsome squabbling family. Generally when they are flying they will utter the raucous "caws". There is a wailing like sound that they give only while perched in the conifers. Sounds like "Maaaooh-wa- maaoooh". Another party is heard only while they are perched. This is a series of clucks, coughs, cracks etc. that will start slowly the sounds coming in clear
