J M Johnston 1948 Raven 27 July Petersburg Alaska Ames Fur Farm. The tide was at low ebb and a flock of about 30 Short Billed Gulls were standing at rest on a sandy shoal. A raven was perched on a rotten stump on the opposite side of the creek. The raven took off in his slow casual manner heading straight for the gulls. The gulls dispersed in a hurry and the raven alighted on the shoal just as though the gulls had not been there. After alighting he merely stepped around on the shoal in his slow way, did not attempt to put out the gulls. Stayed amiss site then flew off. ? ? ? 28 Aug Holkham Bay Alaska Sumdum Pt. Old deep woods. A raven was heard flying over the tree tops "singing." This is typical of the way they are seen here.
