Main road 1 mi s. of Town.
A very large black bird
was seen perched on a bare
limb (8" diam) of a conifer, the
feathers on the throat were
partially separated from one
another giving the throat
a ragged appearance. The
sounds it uttered were a
resonous, crrruumuck -
The sound centered around
one tone for several repe-
titions but occasionally
one crunch would des-
cend through about four
full tones.

A group of four were seen feeding
on the fuchsia beds, west side of
chmn. They walk slowly along-
pecking here + there at the
clumps of fuchsia. Flew to conif-
ers west side W Juneau Rd. One
