11 April Short Billed Gull few seconds and then would take off to resume flight at 50 foot level. Descent would be at about 45° Graham Reach and Tolmie Channel are deep passages, one continuing without break into the other. It is about 1/2 mi wide with high mount ains rising steeply on either side. The Short billed gull that we saw yesterday was seen near Active Pass B.C. which has very much the same physical conditions as this passage. We did not see short bill gulls in the wide, not closed in by mountains passages.
