Johnston 1948 Journal April 10th March USS Baranof. Seattle -> Puget Sound Strait & Kenai about 50 gulls followed the ship all day - squawking incessantly. About 85% Herring gulls, 12% Glaucous winged, a flock of unidentified small birds debarked gulls were seen in the Active Pass. 1 Short Billed gull was seen when the ship was 5 miles N of Active Pass. 20% of total seen Glaucous few Glaucous winged many Herring abundant Western grebe !
