Surf Scoters
5
31 Aug. Smelt family, about 6" long in
the bay, as evidenced by
the frequency of seeing seal
and porpoise, the manner
of feeding & numbers of the
Bechapartt Bulls, the number
of Marbled Murrelets, and
the fact that five King
Salmon Trolling boats
have taken about 4000
lbs of K.S. (from the 22nd
until the 27th) The K.S were
invariably full of needle
fish when inspection of gut was made.
There have been an abundance
of the small fish because
the water has been loaded
with phosphorescent plankton.
The luminescence in the water
at night is fantastic.
