Field notes
14 Aug. One wading bird (crane
or heron 3ft tall) is wading
at the waters edge by
himself wit of where the gull
flock is. Two Bald Eagles
are perched atop large
boulders in the intertidal
zone, tops of which are in
zone 1. They are preening
their feathers in the
warm sun. A flock of
about 25 Mallards flew
west ward out of the creek
mouth. An occasional
squirrel will trill in the
tree. Also an occasional
Steller Jay will give his clam
or chattered call. A flock
of about ten Crows are con-
stantly vocing their
jargok in the tops of
the conifers near the
point east side Duck
Creek. Short billed gulls
can be heard screaming
over toward the west shore.
