Brown Bear
1 July Holkham Bay, Alaska
Mainland shore N. of Dundum Island
This bear was walking
about on the Fucus flat,
the tide was low. He
had its head down to the
ground as if he were
grubbing in the fucus beds.
A shot was fired over the
bear's head to scare him.
It began running toward
the wood but slowed to
a walk after proceeding
a hundred feet - another
shot spurred him into
a gallop again & he
slowed again - finally
disappeared into the
bushes at the base of
the wood.
When the bear galloped,
it's hind feet would be
brought forward & spraddled
apart. His front legs
straight down between his
spraddled hind legs. Next
step these legs would be
stretched forward & backward.
