M Johnston 1948 Pigeon Guillemot 3 12 Aug Holkham Bay, Alaskan Chan. Between Benis D + Harbor Is. Saw a P. Guillemot swimming and diving about 100 ft off the Seal rock at the S. pt. of H.I. It was progressing out thru the channel with each successive dive - Current running out. 18 Aug. Holkham Bay, Alaskan Pt mid part of East shore of Harbor Is. About 200 yds off this point which is high & rocky I saw four P. Guillemots swimming and diving. Their dives are about 30 seconds in duration but their float on the water after each dive may be three or four minutes. They are wary and will start swimming away from me when the skiff approaches within 300 ft. When I come within about 100 ft of them, two flew away westward toward Stephens Passage and set
