Pigeon Guillemot 1948 25 May (cont) and Ben's do. to the outer bay. It flies fast about 30 mph, with a peculiar tilting to the left & right of its course. It looks as tho the bird intends to make a wide sweeping curve to the right, naturally tilting its body in that direction. Then after following this curve to the right for 100 yds it will tilt its body to the left making a wide curve to the left. This alternating of course continues. 8 July Petersburg, Alaska Mid channel Wrangell Narrows between Petersburg Creek & the Town. Saw two of these ducks. They were swimming on the surface but took off flying eastward thru the channel when our ship approached to within 100 ft. of them.
