McGilmour 1948 Hair Seal 5 12 June showed that it had been feeding on shrimp. The shrimp showed little sign of being digested which indicated that they had not been eaten more than a half hour before the seal was killed. These seal are yellowish gray with dark brown spots about the size of a 50c piece scattered at about 1 foot intervals over their body. A gradation of gray tends from a yellowish gray to a dark blue-gray. Occasionally a pup will be seen swimming immediately behind its mother. The mother's head shows normal size & the pup's head is about 1/2 size. The pup will swim within 2 feet behind the mother. It is fairly easy to run a sow and her pups down. That is, chase them with the boat until firing range is reached because the pup can not swim fast and
