Jim Golmeton 1948 Herring Gull. Larus argentatus #3 May Stephens Passage. 1 mi. off Snattishendlet. Large flock of these & other gulls, Blancos Blancus marged & short billed gulls been feeding on some kind of krill in the water. July Petersburg Alaska. Ames Fur Farm, Petersburg Creek On the trip down from Juneau to Petersburg I noticed the lack of Gulls around the boat. Then today when I dumped the fish scraps out on the mud flats, only the ravens (about a dozen) came to feed on the scraps. When I asked Mr. Ames about the gulls he said that they usually left these parts dur- ing the first part of June.
