billed gulls been feeding
on some kind of krill in
the water.

On the trip down from Juneau
to Petersburg
I noticed the lack of Gulls
around the boat. Then
today when I dumped
the fish scraps out on the
mud flats, only the ravens
(about a dozen) came to
feed on the scraps. When
I asked Mr. Ames about the
gulls he said that they
usually left these parts dur-
ing the first part of June.
