R.E.Johnson 1968 Journal July 20 Kodiak Island, Alaska Harlequin Duck - 4 \phi , 5 1 \varrho drifts. Pigeon Guillemot - 54, some apparently nesting in Bank Swallow - common. nest 1-3ft below -turf of top of sea cliffs. Fox Sparrow - feeding at shoreline amid help. Western Sandpipis - 27 Mallard 1 \varrho Savannah Sparrow - common in grassland Song Sparrow - fairly common - feed amid help on beach. Red-faced Cormorant - 1 Pelagic Cormorant - 1 Black-billed Magpie - adult(s?) feeding 203 Full grown young on beach. Young have a blue sheen to plumage. Adults have a less metallic look and are black. These differences may relate to plumage wear. Horned Puffin - 13, appear to be nesting in crack in cliff. Whimbrel - 29 We also saw a Seal offshore and 2 Black-tailed Deer, one with a pair of velvet prongs, on the beach. In the vicinity of Lake Rose Tead (near Pasagshak Bay) we saw several ducks, Arctic Terns, and one
