July 19 Kodiak Is., Alaska
a local carpenter who is interested in the out-of-doors & is currently out of work awaiting materials. In the late afternoon Marcel drove me out Mill Bay Road & around to a point overlooking the ocean where grass tops the cliffs & extends laterally for 1/4 mile. However the strip of grass was never over 100 yds wide (from ocean to forest). I checked the cliff for rosy finches and found none. The grass was 2 to 4 feet high and not too likely a place to find a rosy finch foraging.
A bird list for July 18-19 was kept. This list includes birds from the forest, tall grass, the ecotone between these, and the ocean.
