R.E. Johnson 1967 Journal 123 August 10 Fishtrap Creek, Sanders Co., Montana to Pack River, Boundary Co., Idaho is the highest peak in this area (souther Cabinets) and it looks like it could have some alpine fauna even though its west slopes are heavily timbered, as noted yesterday. There is a north facing cirque with abundant cliffs & snow. It remains possible that other such cirques exist along the east face of the ridge running north from Mt. Headley (map suggests steep cirques above small lakes), but these were not seen. Returned (driving) down Fishtrap Creek, then south on Thompson River Rd, then up West Fork of Thompson River, and continued to end of logging roads on Four Lakes Creek. Several roads were left unexplored however. These lakes (Cabin, Pocupine, Grass, Frog, & Knowles) lie in a basin on the ne slope of Cube Iron Mtn (-7198). There is a trail to Cabin Lake (2miles) and another past the remaining four lakes leading to Squaw Pass (east of Cube Iron Mtn). The country appears to be mainly heavily timbered & with little abrupt topographic relief, but the possibility of low cliffs along the ridge does exist. (see Thompson Falls Quad, 1937).
