Audubon Warbler
April 8 Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History, Santa Barbara, Calif.
Clear, sunny, still. Oak slopes & sycamore creek bottom.
Three (1 mature male) birds foraging in top of 70 ft
Sycamore. Spend a large portion of time eyeing branches to
leaves from each perch without making any foraging
attempts. Forage in leaves & fly down (2-5 ft) to
larger (2 inch diameter) limb to consume food secured
in leaves. This consisted primarily of 3/4" green
caterpillers. Whipped bill on limb after most feeding bouts.
