1 Loopar 1939 July 28 Staywhile Sp, Columbia, Wash. under a low shrub which grew 1 to 2 feet high and was very abundant on the hillside under the large Douglas firs. The bird was partially hidden in the shrub when shot from a distance of 50 feet and seen was busily engaged in feeding. The bird seems feeding upon berries growing upon the above mentioned shrub as was later found out by examining the contents of the crop. Walking further up the hill I flushed 2 other birds also feeding in the same shrub. July 29 Leaving camp about 2 pm we drove on through the blue mountains following the same road to Pendleton, Oregon. From Pendleton we drove south on highway 395 to a point on the highway near Albee where we made a temporary camp for the evening.
