July 27
Stevenson Sd., Columbia Co., Wash.
Further down the slope,
at one place along the stream
I found a flat grassy area
in which I found small
remains in the grass. The
grass was, I think, a species of Bromus
although I am not certain
of this. I set 3 traps in
this area. Along the stream
traps were set at the water's edge.
Returning to the
roadway I set 2 rat traps,
baited with prunes, at the
base of 2 Douglas fir. The
traps were about 50 feet
apart.
July 28
Upon picking up
the above trap line I found
the following catch:
5 Peromyscus maniculatus
1 Clethrionomys gapperi ♀
2 Eutamias amoenus (1 ♂ & 1 juv.)
1 Glaucomys sabrinus ♀
While returning to the
highway, I shot a Ruffed
Grouse, Bonasa umbellus.
The bird was feeding.
