July 27 Stoweswhile dp 5150 ft Columbia Co, Wash.
4 miles from camp to a point
on the Skyline road near
Wildcat springs. This was
located approximately 2 miles
NE from Twin Buttes.
at this location I set out
40 museum special traps,
my trap line extended down
the canyon or ridge from
the road. Traps were set at
irregularly intervals
depending upon the type
of vegetation. Some were
set under shrubs and small
plants others on the open
at the base of large trees.
Douglas fir and lodge pole
pine were common at this
locality. Small shrubs
grow abundantly on the
side of the ridge. About
50 yds down from the
road I encountered the
spring and continued
setting traps along the
small stream flowing
from the springs for 200 yds,
