August 1939 Stayawhile Sp., 5150 ft. Columbia Co. Wash. near Lewis Peak I shot an young ? chickaree [illegible] sciurus hudsonicus from the lower limb of a small fir near camp. Leaving about 2 o'clock we back to Dixie and then on highway 30 to Dayton. From Dayton we southwest on the Skyline road to Stayawhil springs approximately 35 mi. from Dayton. Our camp site at Stayawhile springs was located at a small meadow with butte to the east and west. A small stream flowed through the meadow. The area was rather heavily timbered with Douglas fir, White pine, spruce larch and fir. July 27 Early in the morning I shot an adult ? chickaree sciurus hudsonicus which was barking loudly from a small fir near camp. In the evening I drove
