super 939 July 22 Snake R. 1 mi N Burbank, Walla Walla Co Wash. During the day I put up the mammoth described above. Also I skinned a Dipodomyx orelii collected by D. H. Johnson 2 mi S SE of Burbank. This camp night with the snake was made on the sandy beach of the river and which was overgrown with willows. To the south and east was land under cultivation, the principal crops being corn and alfalfa. July 23 During the morning I shot a Bullneck O rivele (Icterus bullaceii), about 300 yds from camp in a small willow near the river. Near the same spot I shot a Red Shafted Flicker which was feeding on the ground. Other birds seen during the morning were: Belted Kingfisher, Yellow Warblers, Cliff Swallows and Bank Swallow.
