July 15 Mayfield, 200 ft., Ischultet Co., Wash.
Confined to camp all day
while the rest of the party
drove to Goldendale. During
the evening I shot a
Pipistrellus hesperus which
was flying about 20 feet
high above the open roadway.
Also I prepared a usual
rat brought in by
Mr. Soughurst.
July 16 Moving camp about 7 am.
we drove east and camped
4 miles N.E. Roosevelt, Ischultet Co., Wash. En route a group of Burrowing Owls
were noted at the entrance to the hills.
July 17 Patterson site, Benton Co., Wash.
While at our temporary
camp 4 miles N.E. Roosevelt
I noted a Forester Tern,
and a Blue Heron flying
over the river. I also flushed
a pair of Ducks which I
took to be Mallards while
walking down the river
bank. Upon approaching the
point from which they
were flushed I saw a young
duck upon the bank at the
