Idarper 1939 July 10 Twin Buttes, Shoshania Co., Wash. which was about 25 miles northwest of the ice caves. The rest of the day was spent setting up camp at Twin Buttes and cooking. The camp at Twin Buttes was located on the east slope of the ridge connecting the 2 buttes. The elevation was 4300 feet at the camp site as compared with approximately 4800 feet at the top of the Twin Buttes lookout station, and 4000 feet at Mosquito cabin located below. The immediate area around Twin Buttes showed evidence of having been burnt sometime in the past since all of the trees were small and the area was much more open than the neighboring slopes which had very thick growth.
