Hooper 1939 July 7 Brooks Wells. most branch of a large Spruce but missed. Also I was within shooting distance 100 feet of 2 Clubarels [illegible] and which I observed feeding. Also about 8 chipmunks and 3 Golden washed [illegible] Squirrel were seen. In the evening several small but were seen overhead but only one was killed, this by Mr. Johnson. It was found to be Tascionictaris noctivagans. July 8 At short distance from camp at the edge of Brooks meadows a member of the party located burrows of Aplodontia sp? which I observed. The burrow system consisted of large external openings of about 6 inches in diameter and about which the dirt was pushed back [illegible] These openings led to a common subterranean tunnel which
