Houper 1939 July 5 consisting of Spruce fir, Douglas fir, white fir. Much fallen timber was found in the forest. No traps were set. July 6 At 12 o'clock while walking in the dense timber I observed an Evening Grosbeak feeding. Other birds seen in this area were a Dwarf Hermit Thrush and Steller Jay. In timber bordering the meadow I saw several Chipping Sparrows, 2 Junco's, several Robins a flock of perhaps 50 Pine Siskins. In the midst of the meadow several Meadowlarks were seen. Coming back to camp I shot a f adult Chipmunk Eutamius townsendii which was running along a fallen tree trunk at the edge of the meadow.
