selected ; in the afternoon
I shot at pond squirrel
Citellus beecheyi on steep
slope of a small dry sandy
canyon above camp - several
holes were found in the area.
While walking over the
hillside on back of camp
I also saw 4 Western
Meadowlarks, 1 Blackback
Ortyle, 2 Mourning Doves,
a covey of California
Quail, 1 Sylvolaegus muttallii,
numerous violet green swallows,
1 Seigeli Bunting, 2 Song Sparrows.
Near the river bank I
observed an Ash Throated
Flycatcher and several
Sandpipers on a small
clearing 100 feet from shore.
July 3 Today
in the afternoon
30 Brewer special mouse
traps were set on the dry
hillside above camp.
Setting at about 15
foot intervals I tried
to put all I could under
