1939 June 30 Columbia, K., 500 ft., at mouth of Deschute, R. Deschutes River where we made camp. A very good camp site was found about ½ mile from the highway up the Deschutes river. Poplar trees lined the river but the canyon walls were dry and overgrown with Sagebrush Artemisia. The soil on the canyon walls was very dry and sandy. Large bunches of white sand were found at intervals on the hillside. No traps were set since camp was made late in the evening. July 1 Although a large part of the day was spent cooking and in setting up camp I set out 30 traps (museum specials).
