Hopper 1939 July 30 Crooked River In the flat sandy soil, Most of the traps were set under clumps of sage brush. No mice were taken in traps set in the open. Traps set at or near the opening of a hole proved more fruitful. The Bergnathas were all taken from the hillside. Setting under juniper trees were successful. The Bergmays were taken over the entire route. Only 1 mouse, a Bergmayus nanulatus was taken in the black lava rim rock although 15 of the traps were set in this area. Birds seen at or near camp were: Ash Throated Flycatcher Yellow Warbler. Crow. Brewer Blackbird Bellied Kingfisher
