July 30 Crooked River
In the flat sandy soil,
Most of the traps were
set under clumps of
sage brush. No mice were
taken in traps set in
the open. Traps set
at or near the opening
of a hole proved more
fruitful. The Bergnathas
were all taken from
the hillside. Setting
under juniper trees
were successful. The
Bergmays were taken over
the entire route. Only
1 mouse, a Bergmayus
nanulatus was taken
in the black lava rim
rock although 15 of
the traps were set
in this area.
Birds seen at or near camp were:
Ash Throated Flycatcher
Yellow Warbler.
Crow.
Brewer Blackbird
Bellied Kingfisher
