Leaving our first camp,
11 mi N.E. of Weed we drove
north on highway 97 to Klamath Falls to Bend,
At Bend we turned east
on highway 28 to Pineville,
and then left the
main highway and drove
southeast approximately
35 miles to our second
camp site at the mouth
of Bear Cr. on the Crooked
R. Camp was set 200 feet
south of the highway
in the Crooked river
canyon which at this
point was at this point
about 200 yds. wide.

The
north wall of the
canyon, was of redish soil and raised up
about 500 feet above
stream level. The south
