Douglas 1939 Dec 26 [illegible] mine, 5200 ft., 4 1/2 mi. So. Bishop. Ingo Co. Cal. In the mine was very rough, and irregular farming hard and irregular grooves for attachment. Two other short tunnel where found nearly but neither had bats or terres. Also it was interesting to note the quantity of other animal life on these hills. The vegetation consisted of low pines trees, bunch grass, tea, and sage. The hills were very rocky with [illegible] steep rocky canyon walls. A flock of cedar waxwings, several flocks of white crowned sparrows and a Canyon Wren? were seen in this area - Several [illegible] Several Jays were heard in the distance but were not seen. Returning to Bishop I shot a Western Meadowlark
