Houger 1939 July 2 Citellus beecheri Washo Co., Oray. Columbina, 300 ft. at mouth of Deschutes R; A specimen was shot on the steep slope of a small dry rocky canyon 1/2 mi. from camp. Several other holes were found in this area and two other animals were seen in the same area. The specimen taken proved to be a young ♀, no vegetation was found in the immediate vicinity of their burrows but clumps of sage brush were found 50 feet away. Loose volcanic rocks were scattered over the hillside. Sand was close to the burrows noted. The ? slope of the hillsides was East and was very well drained.
