3 mi. W Inverness, 300 ft., Marin Co., Calif.
I shot one from the dead limbs of a fallen bishop pine on a sunny hillside, 25 ft. above a flowing spring - this 100 ft. from the caretaker's cabin at the top of the ridge on Inverness - P.K. Ray's road.
Mr. Acker, the caretaker, reports them abundant about camp.
I saw 1 more and heard 2 others in addition to the one shot.
Feathers saw one. All in bunches or folliacies.

Shot one while I was eating lunch in camp. Animal was sitting about 4 ft. off the ground in a willow dump 100 ft. from Olenna Cr. proper. This orayed was the only 1 seen about camp.
