Hooper, 1938 9 mi. NW N W Calistoga, Sonoma Co., Calif. June 23, This area probably was a seepage spot now dry. On Mt. Helena, as on Mt. Tassajara, Mt. Disblo + Mt. Hamilton, the top of the mountain is evidently lower zonally, than are the lower needles. On top and down S side dense thickets of Adenostoma and Arctostaphyus exist. In sheltered canyons and on north side are: redwoods, Douglas fir, madrone, alder, bay, deciduous oak =?, Some Coulter pine down lower and, as well, also present on floor of upper Napa Valley. June 24: 2 mi. E Stewarts Point, Sonoma Co., Calif. Drove north past main highway (road to Guadala) and turned east on Shaggy- Stewarts Point road. Are now camped in typical redwood association. Good redwood stands were noted where we passed over the summit to direct coastal drainage. The chaparral belts - of mangarita and Adenostoma, briefly - were restricted to drier more exposed slopes. Last site I set out traps in 4 situations, as follows + with these results thus a M: 27 traps at 1/4 mi. E of Stewarts Point on hillside in rip
