Hooper, 1938 Berkeley, Alameda Co., Calif. Jan. 31, Notes on "Day Shoot" held by members of the Calaveras County Sportsman Assoc. (Calaveras County in Calif.) This is the second shoot held Jan. 30, by the association at which M.V.Z. members attended. Miss. Mary Erickson and I were on hand in April, 1936. See our notes on that trip. Left Berkeley with J. H. Tait and F. Richardson in Dodge truck. Drove out through Hayward, Livermore & Tracy on U.S. Hwy. 50, then turned (east of Tracy) north on Hwy. 99 to Stockton, thence north- east on @ through Linden, Bellota, Jenny Lind to Valley Springs; lunch here 12:30-1:15. Then to San Andreas where tried to contact sportsmen, store owners, etc but with little luck; thence to Angels Camp. Returned home via same route. Left Angels at 8:20 PM; reached M.V.Z. at 12:50 PM. Total mileage 250 [miles]. No shoot was held in 1937. This is apparently due to lack of a unifying head to call the shoot and, too, probably lack of interest. The affair this year was under the leader ship of Mr. F.J. Gillo, an affable and pleasant owner of a Gents Furnish- ings store in Angels. He seemed to be Treasurer of
