Drwerness, 100 ft., Marin Co., Calif.
Mar. 27,
Night before last (Mar. 25) set out
traps at the locality Point Reyes Station,
salt marsh. This locality, more exactly, is
about 1/2 mi. N NW Pt. Reyes Station at the
head of Tomales Bay - on the N side of this
Bay. 35 traps were set in Salicornia
mostly in Microtus runways not over
100 ft. from the old San Francisco and
Cazadero Railroad bed. Found in those
traps: 7 Microtus. Set 1/5 mouse and 1
cat trap on the hillside east of the marsh
in thimbleberry, Acrostichum sword fern, Baccharis.
Saw what may have been Aplodontia burrows
in sword fern clumps. Caught nothing
in the brush. Made 1 gophers set;
set not disturbed when taken up the next
morning. Also set 25 mouse traps the
same evening on the west side of the
Bay (Tomales) about opposite (as re.
latitude) the locality on the east side.
These traps were set in sedge ? (arrow
grass?) and in Salicornia. Caught here
1 Microtus and 5 Peromyscus (3 juv.) -
all in Salicornia.
