cooper, 1935 2 mi. E. Bishop, Inyo Co., Calif. May 21, ly, 2 or 2 1/2 in. in diameter. About one half of the traps were set in this habitat and the other fifteen placed in the adjoining Bishop Cr. bottom- lands. Here a few grassy areas could be found on the slightly higher ground bordered by the stream channels proper, which were, for the most part, overgrown with cat-tails (Typha). Very little water at any season flows down this part of the creek; all but this slight seepage is diverted, also at a point approximately 1 mile west, into the Bishop canal, which, in turn empties into the Owens River near Big Pine. Microtus signs could be found in the grassy areas. The traps this morning yielded the following mammals (+ 1 Neothodontomys, which was discarded): 0783 Dipodomys m. leucopus 314 - 191 - 46 testes large 0784 " " 278 - 172 - 43 0785 " " 287 - 170 - 43 testes large 0786 " " 282 - 170 - 44 0787 " m. meriami 225 - 131 - 37 " 0788 " " 215 - 126 - 38 " 0789 Neothodontomys m. megalotis 135 - 66 - 18 "
