Hooper, 1936 21 mi. W + 2mi. N Lovelock, 4000 ft., Pershing Co., Nev. July 28, to reach this lake by a road from Vernon, but didn't succeed - road observed & surface of ground too sandy. We are now camped about 1/2 mi. E of the white, adobe part of the dry lake- east side of the lake. Sand dunes extend at least a mile (can't see farther!) on each side of camp. These dunes are not over 1/4 mi. in width and are met on the west side by the adobe areas and on the east by dark gravelled ground - which extends, in a gradual rise, to the mountains eastward. Collected 3 Crotaphytus along the sand dunes: Shot 2 more Crepidophorus from under bushes (as, indeed, all were - at 1 P.M.) growing on rocky ground, however only 1 could be saved. July 29 Shot 3 Crepidophorus and 4 Crotaphytus on the sand dunes. All were driven out from under the shade of a bushes.
