Hooper, 1936. 1/2 mi. N Vya, 6000 ft., Washoe Co., Nev. July 20, 50 ft. from the camp house. Observed here among grass on marshy ground: ! Hyla. Shot a Centamice from a juniper; since the skull was bodily crushed, it was not saved. Collected a skrike from a juniper near the house! July 21, Set out 21 mouse traps in "native grass" and at bases of Artemesia bushes. Microtus runways were faintly discernable in the grassy areas near the spring. Area trapped: all within 100 ft. radius from ranch house where are camped. Caught this morning: 2 Microtus mordax and 12 Peromyscus maniculatus . Quinn R. Crossing, 4100 ft., Humboldt Co., Nev. Yesterday afternoon left camp at Vya. Drove eastward by a Pinte + Shoshone Indian Reservation and northward to Denio, then south to Quinn River crossing - a ranch with two houses. Hot route, see map in notebook of W.C. Russell. Picked up a coyote skull near a dry lake 26 mi. (by road) east of Vya. Spent night near the Indian reservation. Drove here today.
