Hooper, 1936 12 Mi. Cr., 5300 ft., ½ mi. E Calif. line, Washoe Co., Nev. July 17, Spent most of July 15 packing specimens and looking for gopher workings. Went first to a ranch about 2 mi. N Hausen. An artesian well there supplied water to grass and small patches of alfalfa. Could find no gopher workings here but did collect some fish (Catostomus or Pantosteus?) from the streams leading from the well+spring. Next we (Hall & I) drove about 1½ mi. S of our camp (1 mi. W Hausen) to an old sheep ranch. No gophers were found to be working here. Drove back to Duck Valley, made one shot in a hay field. Shot a woodrat from On July 16 packed up all equipment, drove into Calif. At the inspection station near Hausen, drove to Cedarville where re-stocked with food+gas and ate lunch. Left Cedarville at about 1:30 drove north through Fort Bidwell past the Oregon line to 12 Mile Creek, ½ mi. E down the creek to camp. About 1 mi. of this creek is within Nevada. We are now within that mile. Went hunting this morning. Followed the creek eastward about ½ mi. Shot 2 Cattle speciosphilus, but lost one in pava stules.
