July 3,
Moved camp to the above locality. Left
old camp on Truckee R. at 8:15 A.M., drove
to Reno where went to P.O., and restocked
with groceries; left Reno at 10:45, drove
north along Pyramid Lake, following the
S.P. railroad route (to Susanville) to
this locality.
Set out 10 mouse traps, 10 paces apart, in
Artemisia on course sand.
July 4,
Caught in traps: 4 Perognathus longimembris,
1 Microdipodops, 1 Dipodomys merriami, and
1 Dipodomys microps.
Set out 15 mouse traps and 2 rat traps
along rocky outcroppings and adjoining
rocky soil.
July 5,
Took in traps: 2 Neotoma lepida,
2 Perognathus longimembris, 3 Brachymys
saintitus. All were put up into study
skins.
July 7,
Moved camp yesterday to Smoke Creek,
3900 ft., 9 mi. east of Calif. state line, Washoe
Co., Nev. This camp is situated, more
specifically, about 200 ft. from Smoke Cr.
We are occupying an old deserted ranch house.
