r, 1935 4 mi. E. Bishop, Inyo Co., Calif. Aug. 18, rats in this region are confined to the regions where the plants are more abundant and the soil less sandy. Only more extensive trapping will throw light on the question. I saw no cottontails while traveling to and from the trapping locality, howerver did see six or seven black-tailed jackrabbits. Cottontails were abundant here in May, why didn't I see some this time? Tomorrow morning we leave for Berkeley via the Sonora Pass Road, thus concluding this brief vacation trip.
