Aphelocoma californica
June 4
Campus Berkeley, Alameda Co., Calif.
Watched a Cal. Jay feeding on the lawn in front of
the Faculty Club. It was stalking earthworms
robin-fashion; instead of walking, it was
moved in "stiff-legged" jumps, each bound
carrying the bird quite some distance. I had
only watched it for about 2½ minutes when it
pulled out an earthworm, flying off
immediately through the live oaks.
