Itinerary
½ mi. NE San Bernardino, 1100 ft., San Bernardino Co., Calif.
Cemetery located at 7th Street and Sierra Way.
Caught 2 Thomomys bottae (? ?). The habitat is level ground covered with a well watered lawn, with a soil consisting of blackish clay and sand (to a small degree).
Aug. 10 Made 10 settings (20 traps) for gophers at the above locality and caught 3 adult Thomomys bottae (? ?, ?). Workings are relatively numerous on the cemetery grounds, and Mr. Lewis Stone tells me that he has caught about 140 + Thomomys off this area (about a quarter mile square) during the past year. I also saw one very large Scapanus working, but had no traps. I was told that several of these also had been caught.
Aug. 12 3 mi. W San Bernardino, 1250 ft., San Bernardino Co., Calif.
Previously, on Aug. 8, I picked up a large Bufo at this locality, which is more exactly, "3130 Stoddard Ave." On this date I caught 3 Bufo and 1 Phrynosoma. Bufos are exceedingly numerous around the yard at this locality, and can be heard and seen among the shrubbery at night, especially when lights are
