Hoffmeister 1939 Dipodomys ordii N.E. edge alkali lake, 4200 ft., Lake Co., Oregon coloration of the dorsum and dorsal band of the tail, and even the reddish color of the pencil of the tail. Caught 7 specimens (3 ?, 4 ?). Aug.1 1 mi. E Vinton, 4900 ft., Plumas Co., Calif. Caught a series of Dipodomys ordii in this region, which consists of Artemisia, greasewood, a type of puncture vine, and soft sand to a depth of from 4 to 6 inches. This series does not have the reddish color of those caught on the alkali flat area.
