Hoffmeister 1939 Lasionycteris noctivagans July 6 Brookes Meadow, 4300 ft., 9 mi ENE Mt. Hood, Hood R. Co., Oreg. About 8 P.M. this evening, these bats were seen flying around the tops of the timber where it comes down to the edge of the meadow. The bats fly mostly near the tops of the spruce + firs and remain usually about 50 feet above the ground. Johnson and I shot at one nearly simultaneously and both apparently hit the specimen (as it was rather badly torn up). July 7 This evening about 8:00 P.M. again these bats appeared. Mosquitos are exceedingly abundant today, for it has been a relatively warm day. One specimen was collected tonight by Johnson. By 9:00 o'clock none had been seen for the last 15 minutes, so they were not hunted longer.
