It rained on + off again most of the day, especially late afternoon while we were setting traps. Light drizzle, heavy fog in the evening. Duke set 90 traps, Phill [illegible] set 100. Returned to roadside pullout to spend the night after grabbing some dinner at a small truck stop / cafe / bar just 10. of Trinidad. 8 July 2.2 km E (by rd) Trinidad to Tres Rios, San José Prov. Costa Rica Arose ~7:00. Clear, but everything is wet. One Reithro (the med-sized, rufous-ventred one) died during the night, as did one of the smaller Oryzomys (alfaroï?). We skinned them before proceeding to check traps.
