E. Hueske 1982 Journal July, cont. 2.2 km E (by rd) Trinidad San José Prov., Costa Rica 2400m bottom of the clearcut, near a stream. Dark again, ~1800. It rained on + off again most of the day, especially late afternoon while we were setting traps. Light drizzle, heavy fog in the evening. Duke set 90 traps, Phill [illegible] set 100. Returned to roadside pullout to spend the night after grabbing some dinner at a small truck stop / cafe / bar just 10. of Trinidad. 8 July 2.2 km E (by rd) Trinidad to Tres Rios, San José Prov. Costa Rica Arose ~7:00. Clear, but everything is wet. One Reithro (the med-sized, rufous-ventred one) died during the night, as did one of the smaller Oryzomys (alfaroï?). We skinned them before proceeding to check traps. Lower line, disturbed: 1 Oryzomys (alfaroi) near stream 20 line, mature: 1 Reithrodontomys creper 1 Peromyscus nudipes 1 Heteromys oresterus (dying) 40 line, mature: 2 Reithrodontomys creper (1 dead) 1 Peromyscus nudipes Duke caught: 3 Scotinomys teguina 1 Reithrodontomys creper, 1 R. sp (small) (small) 5 Oryzomys (3 sp. = devius (lg); alfaroi and 1 med. sized (unk.))
