E. Heske 1981 Journal 5.4 mi NE El Machin to Daxara, Daxara, Mexico am. cont. back on large fallen logs. Most are Thorius (sp?) that look like a Batrachoseps, and wiggle like one when disturbed, as well. Others look like an Aneides. See D.A. Good's catalogue. David found ~20 salamanders and a small colubrid snake. I spent part of the time there stuffing some more mice while David looked for herps + Duke fed the live mice + cleaned cages. Left ~1700, got a room at a motel just outside of Daxara (~1km E of where Hwy 175 joins Hwy 190) = Motel Costa Rica - 350 Pesos. Nice to be in warm weather again. Turned in ~2130.
